古座川は美しい川と渓谷があり自然豊かで一枚岩など奇岩が織りなす景観は圧巻の美しさで地を活かした場所でのロードレースを開催。昨年はワンディレースとして大会を開催したが、悪天候の為レースがキャンセルとなった。本年からはツールド熊野の第１ステージとして開催される。蔵土グランドをスタートして川沿いに県道38号を1.3km北上するパレード走行後、正式スタートとなる。
国道371号を登り基調で北上しダムのある七川地区・周回地点の『今津橋』へ。ここから、勝負ポイントの平井集落Uターンを経て、山岳ポイントである『平井峠』、下り基調で今津橋へ戻ってくる。とても狭く起伏に富んだ山岳地帯で選手たちの技術とスタミナが試る。
その後、下り基調の起伏でふたたび国道371号、県道38号を引き返し『一枚岩』へ向かう。
一枚岩は日本最大の巨岩で国の天然記念物がレース展開を眺めており、観客にとってもスピード感が感じられ最高の観戦スポットになるだろう。
一枚岩から300m南下すると周回地点の『相瀬橋』を左折して周回コースへ入っていく。
平坦であるが道幅の狭い区間と広い県道38号が混在した8kmの周回を経て、スプリントポイントである復路の一枚岩へハイスピードで突入し、スタート地点の蔵土地点へ。
以上のコースを合計３周回してゴールする全長127.8kmの厳しいレース。
Kozagawa is rich in nature, with beautiful rivers and valleys, and the scenery of monolith and oddly shaped rocks is breathtakingly beautiful, and the road race will be held in such a scenic location. Last year, the event was held as a one-day race but was cancelled due to bad weather. From this year, it will be held as the first stage of the Tour de Kumano. After a 1.3-km parade run starting at the Kurozu Multipurpose Plaza and heading north on Prefectural Route 38 along the river, the race will officially start. The riders will head north on route 371 at un uphill pace toward “Imazu-Bridge”, a turnaround point in the Shichikawa area where the dam is located. From here, the riders will make a U-turn at “Hirai Village” which is the winning point and return at a downhill pace to the mountainous point, “Hirai-Pass”. The narrow and rugged mountainous terrain will test the skills and stamina of the racers.
After that, the riders will turn back downhill on Route 371 and Prefectural Road 38 to “Ichimai-Iwa”.
Ichimai-Iwa, the largest giant rock in Japan and a national natural treasure, watches the race unfold and will be a great spectator spot for spectators to feel the speed of the race.
300m south of Ichimai-iwa, turn left at the "Aise Bridge" at the lap point and enter the circuit course.
After an 8-km lap on a mix of flat but narrow road sections and wide Prefectural Road 38, the riders will plunge at high speed into the sprint point, the monolith of the return route, and return to the starting point, the Kurozu point.
The race is a grueling 127.8 km long course, with a total of three laps of the above course to reach the goal.
